Enterprise Risk Management (Preview)
Chapter 1 – Risk Management Awareness 37 has a certification program in risk management assurance tailored to the needs of internal auditors. The Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) is a not-for-profit organization that maintains a capability model known as the Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) model. OCEG offers training sessions on its model, and maintains a certification program for its members. COSO also has a certification program for its internal control framework. The COSO training is delivered by each of its sponsoring organizations. In addition, accounting professions in the United States and Canada offer separate risk management training to their members. Employers are looking for graduates with competencies and skills in risk management, and many interesting job opportunities are available. This trend will increase as more organizations decide to implement ERM and continue to evolve their practices. In order to become well rounded, risk management professionals embrace continuing education and learning. They remain current with ERM, acquire a good knowledge of all other important management disciplines, and develop a solid understanding of the industry applicable to their organization. Risk management professionals also need to be good at communica- ting, delivering training sessions, facilitating meetings, coordinating activities, managing teams and making presentations to senior executives and board members.
